Audio Adventures Visual Description and User Guide

QUICK START GUIDE:

To begin using your Audio Adventures device, first familiarize yourself with the main system unit.

When you have the system facing you, you will feel a small window at the top, then below this, just over half-way down the front face, are four slightly raised buttons, these are labelled A, B, C and D from left to right; they’re only about one millimetre in height but give a satisfying click when pressed. These four buttons are how you will control the system.

At the bottom of the front face, you will feel horizontal ridges of the speaker grille.

Along the left edge you will feel a three-point-five-millimetre jack socket for using wired headphones and a USB type C charging socket.

Along the right edge, at the top, you will feel an opening. This is where you will insert the game cartridges. Below this slot is the main power switch. When the switch is slid towards the top of the unit, it activates the power and locks the game cartridge into position. The switch physically prevents removal of the game cartridge whilst the system is powered on.

Please note that the system is shipped with a piece of tape over the power switch to prevent accidental power-on during transport. Remove this tape and discard it.

On the back of the system you may feel a square, recessed indentation. In here is a sticker detailing the company details and power requirements.

To use the system, open the packaging for one of the game cartridges; game boxes are the same size as a deck of cards. Whilst the packaging does not feature braille, the game cartridge itself has a few characters of braille to help denote the game.

Gently insert the game cartridge into the slot on the right side edge of the system so that the braille can be felt along the right edge even when the cartridge is inserted. The game cartridge can only be inserted one way; you’ll know you have it oriented correctly when it pops into position with a satisfying click.

Once inserted, you’re ready to power up your device and start playing. The games are designed to teach you how to play.

To remove the cartridge, power off the system, then whilst holding the front face towards you, gently rest both of your thumbs on the cartridge through the front window and slide it to the right.

POWER:

Please note the system is shipped with very low battery power, so it’s useful to charge the device fully before playing. From a completely drained battery, you should reach full charge in around two hours.

The system is shipped with a USB type C cable for charging.

The system has visible indication of battery power. On the front is a small light that shows red for charging and green for fully charged. There are no audio indications for battery or charge levels.

The battery is extremely large for a device of this kind and will give many hours of gameplay. When the battery does begin to run low, the system will typically begin to misbehave by playing the wrong audio tracks or not registering button presses. If this happens, it almost certainly means your system needs to be recharged.

SPECIAL FUNCTIONS:

Whilst playing a game with Audio Adventures you can pause the game or adjust the volume by holding certain buttons for two seconds.

To pause your game, hold the A button for two seconds. To unpause the game, press the A button again.

To adjust the volume, hold the B button to lower the volume, or the C button to raise the volume.

If your system ever needs to be hard reset, you can hold the D button for ten seconds. This will erase all data from all of your games.

SAVING:

The system can save game data, but this is at the direction of the game designer. Data is saved on the system, not the game cartridge.
